Nigerian Government to Implement Single Window Policy at Ports by 2026 for Trade Efficiency

The Nigerian government, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, is intensifying efforts to implement a Single Window Policy at Nigerian ports by 2026. This policy targets creating a unified platform to harmonize documents, minimize human contact, and enhance transparency in cargo clearance processes.

The goal is to reduce the average cargo clearance time from 21 days to seven days by the end of 2026, positioning Nigerian ports among the top three efficient trade gateways in Africa. Various agencies like the Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian Customs Service, NAFDAC, and SON are directed to collaborate in this initiative.

The implementation of the Single Window Policy is expected to revolutionize port operations and boost trade efficiency.
