FG Implements Teacher Criminal Record Verification Framework

The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced a mandatory Teacher Ethics Criminal Record Verification Framework for teachers in primary and secondary schools. Led by the National Orientation Agency and the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, the initiative aims to ensure that all teachers, whether in public or private schools, undergo a comprehensive background check before employment.

This framework is designed to eliminate impersonation, certificate forgery, and the hiring of unqualified personnel in schools across the country. The Teacher Ethics Criminal Record Verification Framework will be integrated into the Teachers Registration Council's digital portal to streamline access to teacher records and enhance transparency in the recruitment process.
