FG Issues Fresh Flood Alert to Northern States

The Federal Government has issued a fresh flood alert to nine northern states in Nigeria, warning residents of possible heavy rainfall and flooding from August 25 to 29, 2025. The National Flood Early Warning Center, under the Federal Ministry of Environment, raised the alarm in a circular signed by the Director of Erosion, Flood, and Coastal Zone Management, Usman Abdullahi Bokani, in Abuja.

States like Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Borno have been placed on red alert due to their vulnerability to flooding. Communities within these states, especially towns like Mubi, Shelleng, Kaita, and Bindawa, are advised to take precautionary measures.

Stakeholders across the affected states are urged to closely monitor the situation and provide timely feedback to reduce the impact on life and property.
