NiMet Forecasts Thunderstorms and Rain Across Nigeria

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released a three-day weather forecast warning Nigerians of expected thunderstorms and rainfall from Monday through Wednesday. The forecast indicates varying degrees of rainfall across the northern, North-Central, and southern regions.

On Monday, parts of Taraba, Kebbi, and Niger states are expected to experience morning thunderstorms and light rainfall, while the southern region will remain largely cloudy with isolated showers in Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states. Moderate rainfall and scattered thunderstorms are anticipated later in the afternoon and evening across the North-East, Kaduna, the North-Central region, and several southern states.

The weather conditions are expected to persist into Tuesday and Wednesday, with NiMet advising the public to secure loose objects, exercise caution while driving, and stay away from tall trees during thunderstorms. Additionally, airline operators are encouraged to obtain site-specific weather information from NiMet for safe flight planning.
