FG Launches Compensation Scheme for Civil Servants

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched an employees’ compensation scheme to improve the welfare and workplace safety of civil servants. Stella Oduem, the head of the civil service, announced the initiative during a commission event in Abuja, highlighting its role in providing timely compensation for civil servants affected by work-related injuries, diseases, disabilities, and deaths.

This scheme is intended to complement existing welfare programs, including a group life assurance scheme that expands protections for employees' families. Eno Olotu, the Director of Press and Public Relations, stated that this initiative reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration's commitment to safeguarding the dignity of public servants.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) to ensure effective implementation of the scheme. NSITF Managing Director Barr.
