FG Alerts 14 States to Prepare for September Flooding

The Federal Government's National Flood Early Warning Centre has issued alerts for 14 states in Nigeria to prepare for potential flooding due to heavy rain between September 4-8. Usman Abdullahi Bokani, the director of the Erosion Flood Coastal Zone Management Department, urged stakeholders to be vigilant.

This warning comes after recent flooding in Lau, Taraba State. The states at risk include Kebbi, Zamfara, Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, and Borno.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency had previously forecasted thunderstorms and moderate rain in these areas. The government's proactive measures aim to mitigate the impact of flooding and protect vulnerable communities.
