FEC Approves ₦2.078 Trillion for Road Projects Nationwide

On Monday, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved road projects worth ₦2.078 trillion across ten states as part of the federal government's initiative to modernize the nation's transport infrastructure and stimulate economic growth. The council also approved ₦34.398 billion for the construction of an airstrip in Gboko, Benue State, which is expected to enhance agricultural activities and improve humanitarian services in the area.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the approval of 23 major road projects covering states including Adamawa, Taraba, Ebonyi, Kwara, Cross River, Kogi, Lagos, Niger, Oyo, and Plateau. The projects include the rehabilitation and construction of strategic highways to facilitate movement and enhance regional integration.

Additionally, the council ratified a ₦15 billion augmentation for a road contract in Gashua, Yobe State, and approved ₦15.246 billion for the second phase of the Yola-Fufor-Gurin road. Other maritime infrastructure safety projects were also approved to improve port operations and environmental safety.
