Uche Nnaji's Forged UNN Certificate Confirmed by Panel

A federal investigative panel has confirmed that Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Science and Technology, forged his degree certificate from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). The panel, constituted by the Ministry of Education and led by Tunji Alausa, was tasked with investigating discrepancies surrounding Nnaji's academic credentials following public scrutiny.

Although Nnaji was admitted to UNN in the 1981/82 academic session to study Biological Sciences, the records indicate he did not graduate. The certificate he submitted, dated July 1985, was presented during his ministerial nomination process and included among the credentials submitted to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu prior to Senate confirmation.

However, the investigation found that the document was not issued by the university, prompting questions about how Nnaji obtained the purported certificate. The panel's findings corroborated earlier investigations and revealed that Nnaji admitted he did not complete the program, failing to meet the required courses.

The situation has sparked a public debate on the verification of credentials submitted by political appointees.
