Nigeria Reaffirms Economic Reform Commitment with IMF

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to economic reforms and its partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) during a farewell dinner in Abuja for the outgoing IMF Resident Representative, Dr. Christian Ebeke.

The statement was issued by Efe Ovuakporie, Head of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Finance. Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele commended Ebeke for his professionalism and constructive engagement, which significantly strengthened cooperation between Nigeria and the IMF during a critical economic transition.

Oyedele noted that Ebeke's three-year tenure coincided with major economic reforms aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability and improving investor confidence. He highlighted Ebeke's close engagement with Nigerian authorities and his contributions to discussions on fiscal reforms, public debt management, and foreign exchange reforms.

The Director of the International Economics Relations Department, Stanley George, also acknowledged Ebeke's professionalism and steadfast support for Nigeria's economic reform efforts, emphasizing the lasting impact of his contributions on Nigeria-IMF relations.
