Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to IMF Economic Reforms

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to its partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as it continues to pursue fiscal and macroeconomic reforms aimed at restoring economic stability and supporting long-term growth. This commitment was expressed at a farewell dinner in Abuja for Dr.

Christian Ebeke, the outgoing IMF Resident Representative in Nigeria. Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, commended Ebeke for his professionalism and constructive engagement, which significantly strengthened cooperation between Nigeria and the IMF during a critical economic transition.

Oyedele noted that Ebeke's three-year tenure coincided with major economic reforms, including fiscal reforms and public debt management. He emphasized Ebeke's commitment to dialogue and mutual respect, which enhanced the relationship between Nigeria and the IMF.

Stanley George, Director of the International Economic Relations Department at the Ministry of Finance, also acknowledged Ebeke's professionalism and the lasting impact of his contributions on Nigeria's economic reform efforts.
