RCCG Donates $265,854 for Nigerian Evacuation from South Africa

The Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed that the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) donated $265,854 to aid in the evacuation of Nigerians experiencing xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks in South Africa. This information was disclosed in a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed by spokesperson Oluwafemi Adeniyi.

The government expressed gratitude for the donation and commended Pastor Enoch Adeboye for his role in funding the purchase of 500 one-way tickets for stranded Nigerians. The Ministry described the donation as a significant act of compassion and solidarity, highlighting the positive impact of collaboration between faith-based organizations and public institutions in addressing social challenges.

The Federal Government began evacuating distressed Nigerians from South Africa on June 10, 2026, due to a resurgence of xenophobic violence. So far, 1,640 Nigerians have been evacuated, with 1,385 fully sponsored by the government and 255 through philanthropic donations.

Currently, 202 Nigerians are awaiting final screening by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs.
