Wike Declares Himself Target If Tinubu Loses 2027 Election

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, declared during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, that he would become the main target of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election. Wike expressed that his strong support for Tinubu's re-election has made him a target for opposition politicians, stating, “I will be the first politician that Atiku, Obi will hunt for his head.” He emphasized that he is focused on ensuring Tinubu's victory, saying, “Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s reelection.” Wike, who claims to remain a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC), referred to himself as the “General Commander of the Political Infantry” in both FCT and Rivers State, asserting his influence and commitment to the upcoming elections.
