VeryDarkMan Apologizes to Security Forces Over Remarks

Martins Vincent Otse, a social media activist popularly known as VeryDarkMan, issued an apology to members of Nigeria's security agencies for his previous remarks that described military, police, customs, and immigration personnel as “unknown gunmen.” This apology followed his reconsideration after attending the Nigerian Bar Association’s 66th Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Otse acknowledged that his comments unfairly portrayed the personnel who risk their lives to combat insecurity.

In a video released on Friday, he expressed regret for his generalization, emphasizing that his criticism was intended for those allegedly involved in corruption and criminal activities, not the entire security forces. He specifically apologized to the Chief of Defence Staff and requested that his apologies be conveyed to troops engaged in frontline operations.

Despite retracting his generalization, Otse maintained his allegations regarding misconduct within the security agencies, stating that his intention was to highlight "bad eggs" undermining the efforts of their colleagues.
