Nigerian Government Takes Action Against Immigration Officers for Misconduct

The Nigerian government has taken disciplinary actions against immigration officers, including dismissals, retirements, and demotions, following misconducts such as criminal activities. A total of 31 disciplinary cases were reviewed by the Civil Defence, Immigration Service Board, resulting in the dismissal of 8 officers, retirement of 5, and demotion of 8.

Two junior personnel, Aliyu Usman and Aii Chukwu Nancy Ngozi, were dismissed for criminal conspiracy, theft, illegal possession of firearms, and kidnapping. The disciplinary proceedings concluded between April 14 and September 4, 2025, emphasizing the government's commitment to upholding discipline and professional ethics within the immigration service.
