Nigeria's Power Supply Set to Improve in Two Weeks

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through Chief Technical Adviser Adebayo Olowoniyi, stated that citizens will begin to see a gradual improvement in electricity supply within two weeks. This announcement was made during a Thursday appearance on Arise Television, where Olowoniyi explained that the recent electricity shortages were largely due to maintenance work on key gas pipelines supplying fuel to several power plants.

He mentioned that full restoration of gas supply to these plants is anticipated within the next two weeks. Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu defended the government's actions regarding the persistent electricity outages affecting homes and businesses across the country, attributing some outages to factors beyond the government's immediate control.

Olowoniyi expressed optimism that signs of improvement were already emerging, and the government aims to increase electricity generation to 6,000 megawatts by the end of 2026, describing the current situation as a temporary disruption.
