FG Criticizes Wizchino Engineering for Poor Road Work

The Federal Government of Nigeria has criticized Wizchino Engineering Limited for poor quality work on the Keffi-Nasarawa-Toto-Abaji road project in Nasarawa State. Ishaku Mamri, the Federal Ministry of Works representative, noted the slow pace of construction despite funds being released to the contractor.

During a press briefing on Friday, Mamri expressed disappointment that the contractor did not adhere to specifications and emphasized the need for cooperation to ensure the road's durability. Salihu Alkali, chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Nasarawa State, urged the Federal Government to revoke the contract due to the contractor's poor performance and use of substandard equipment.

He highlighted the urgency for the government to re-award the contract to a more competent contractor. The ongoing 15-kilometer Lafia bypass project, awarded in 2022, is reported to be 92.6% complete and is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in Lafia by March 2026.
