Nigeria Advances $20bn Gas Pipeline Talks with Europe

The Federal Government of Nigeria is intensifying discussions regarding a proposed $20 billion transcontinental gas pipeline designed to deliver Nigeria's extensive natural gas resources to the European market. The talks, which are taking place in London, United Kingdom, aim to strengthen energy security and unlock long-term economic value for Nigeria.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikpe Ekpo, noted that the pipeline is intended to transport 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually from Nigeria's southern reserves, extending through Chad and Libya to Sicily, Italy, and into the broader European market. Ekpo emphasized the importance of attracting investment into Nigeria's gas sector, aligning with the government's agenda to create investment opportunities and remove bottlenecks.

The project is being spearheaded by Roger Tamraz, CEO of NetOil Inc., who described the pipeline as commercially viable and strategically important for Europe's energy future. The project is currently in the early development stage and will undergo extensive technical, commercial, and regulatory processes.
