FG Aims for November Completion of Coastal Highway Section 2

The Federal Government of Nigeria is targeting November for the completion of Section 2 of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, as disclosed by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, during an inspection tour on Wednesday. The project, which is currently 98% complete, includes ongoing work on flyovers, underpasses, and interchanges.

Umahi noted that there are concerns regarding soil settlement, which has led to the decision to use flexible pavement temporarily for a year before replacing it with rigid concrete pavement. He praised the contractor, Hitech Construction Company, for the quality of work.

The project is part of President Bola Tinubu's legacy infrastructure initiatives across Nigeria, which span six geopolitical zones. Umahi assured that motorists will be able to drive on the completed highway by next year, with work on the Edo section set to commence soon.

The project aims to enhance economic corridors in the southwest region of Nigeria.
