Umahi Addresses Flooding Concerns on Coastal Highway

On a recent inspection tour of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Minister of Works and Housing, Dave Umahi, addressed concerns regarding flooding along the highway. He assured Nigerians that the project, a major legacy initiative of the Federal Government, is on track for completion by 2031.

Umahi explained that while water accumulation has been noticed in certain sections, measures are being implemented to manage drainage effectively. He stated that the project includes provisions for a future railway line and that construction is progressing steadily despite challenges posed by the terrain.

The highway spans 47 kilometers in one section and will feature six lanes, with substantial completion expected by November. Umahi confirmed that the project has achieved significant progress within two years of commencement and commended Hitech Construction Company for their commitment to the project despite payment delays.

He reiterated the Federal Government's dedication to completing four legacy infrastructure projects initiated under President Bola Tinubu's administration by 2031.
