Head of Civil Service Urges Mentorship Among Directors

The federal government has assigned senior civil servants on Grades 15 to 17 the responsibility of cultivating the next generation of public servants and reinforcing the institutions they oversee. Mr Olumuyiwa Enitan Abel, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, delivered this directive during an interactive session with Directorate-level officers of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) in Abuja.

He underscored the importance of mentorship, accountability, innovation, and professionalism in effective public administration. Abel highlighted the strategic role of the Directorate cadre as a bridge between policy direction and implementation, urging officers to mentor younger colleagues and foster an environment conducive to competence and innovation.

He stressed that the success of government policies hinges on quality implementation and encouraged directors to embrace continuous learning. The session also allowed management staff to identify operational challenges and propose solutions to enhance efficiency in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The meeting concluded a three-phase interaction with OHCSF staff.
