Prof. Olaopa Leads 5,792 Civil Servants in Promotion Exam

On September 22, 2026, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), announced that 5,792 federal civil servants are vying for directorate level positions through a computer-based test (CBT) system. This examination commenced in Abuja and other regions, including the Federal Capital Territory, South West, South East, South South, North West, North East, and North Central, with a total of 2,169 candidates in Abuja alone.

The examination is set to continue, with a foreign phase scheduled for October involving 52 candidates. Olaopa emphasized the successful decentralization of the examination process and noted that candidates adhered to the schedule and conducted themselves appropriately.

He acknowledged initial challenges with internet connectivity but confirmed that these were resolved. Olaopa assured that the examination process is merit-driven, free from political interference, and warned that candidates failing the promotion examination three times may be exited from service.
