FG and TETFund Launch North-Central Research Initiative

The Federal Government, in collaboration with TETFund, initiated a North-Central initiative to enhance research commercialization, commencing with a two-day workshop. This event is part of a nationwide consultation aimed at developing a framework tailored to the region's strengths and priorities.

The workshop, attended by policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders, was opened by TF Okujagu, who emphasized the North-Central region's critical role in Nigeria's innovation landscape due to its agricultural strengths and intellectual resources. The initiative aims to create a unified digital platform to aggregate research outputs and facilitate technology transfer, addressing the disconnect between research and industry.

Prof. Seth Akutson delivered a keynote address stressing the need for stronger collaboration among universities, research institutions, and industry to transform research into economic value.

Engr. Umar Bindir presented the R2C initiative, which aims to establish a comprehensive national research commercialization ecosystem to capture research assets and connect them with market opportunities.
