TETFund to Boost Nigerian Economy via Innovation Fair

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), led by Executive Secretary Arc Sonni Echono, announced plans to expand participation in the 2026 National Research Fair Exhibit. This initiative aims to convert research breakthroughs into market-ready products, thereby boosting economic growth and job creation.

During the inauguration of the committee for the 2026 event in Abuja, Echono emphasized the importance of collaboration among research institutions, industry stakeholders, and investors. The first edition of the fair is set for November 2024 and will feature numerous innovations from Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The newly inaugurated committee includes representatives from the private sector, government ministries, and innovation hubs, aiming to ensure broader participation. The event will showcase proven research and development outputs, encouraging partnerships and commercial viability.

Echono highlighted Nigeria's intellectual capacity and the potential for local manufacturing to create jobs and wealth across the value chain. Engr Umar Bindir, the committee chairman, assured members of a diligent effort to achieve the exhibit's objectives.
