FG to Arraign Sylva and Retired Officers Over Coup Plot

The Federal Government is set to arraign six individuals, including two retired senior military officers, at the Federal High Court in Abuja today. The defendants include retired Major General Moham Ibrahim Gana and retired Naval Captain Erasmu Ochegobia, alongside others such as Victor, Ahm Ibrahim Zekeri, Umoru Bukar Kashim, and Goni Abdulkadir Sani.

They face 13 counts of charges, including conspiracy, attempted treason, terrorism, failure to disclose security intelligence, and money laundering, as filed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, signed by Director of Public Prosecution Rotimi Oyedepo. The charges allege that the defendants conspired to undermine the Nigerian state in 2025 and had prior knowledge of a treason plan involving Colonel Moham Alhassan Ma Aji.

Specific accusations include financial transactions linked to terrorism, with Abdulkadir Sani allegedly receiving 2 million naira and Zekeri Umoru accused of retaining 8.8 million naira, among others. These offenses contravene the Terrorism Prevention Prohibition Act 2022 and the Money Laundering Prevention Prohibition Act 2022.
