FG Launches Artisan Skill Training Program for 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and led by Director General Afiz Ogun, announced the commencement of a skill training program for artisans set to begin in 2026. This initiative was revealed during a visit to several examination centers where mock exams were conducted.

The program will cover nine trades, including welding, plumbing, electrical installation, and cybersecurity, among others. Trainees will be selected based on their performance in theoretical and practical components of the exams.

The ITF aims to screen hundreds of thousands of Nigerians who have registered online for the program, with the screening process scheduled for December 2025. Ogun emphasized the importance of this program in providing skills that will enable participants to compete both locally and internationally.

Additionally, discussions are underway with the City Guild to ensure that graduates receive internationally recognized certifications.
