Nigerian Government to Release N11.995bn for Doctors' Arrears Within 72 Hours

The Nigerian government has announced the release of N11.995 billion within 72 hours to settle outstanding arrears, including accoutrement allowances, for doctors and health workers across the country. This move comes amidst a nationwide strike involving 11,000 resident doctors protesting unpaid arrears and welfare issues.

Despite earlier assurances, the government has accumulated arrears estimated at N38 billion owed to health workers. The payment is part of ongoing efforts to address welfare concerns raised by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).
