FG Reviews Allegations Against FMC Abeokuta Officials

The Federal Government has initiated a comprehensive review of complaints regarding alleged unprofessional conduct, dereliction of duty, and illegal collection of levies by officials at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, announced this on Friday during the distribution of ambulances under the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS).

Salako stated that his office has received numerous complaints and media reports about these allegations, which will be thoroughly investigated. He warned that anyone found culpable would face sanctions in accordance with Civil Service Rules to maintain public confidence in the healthcare system.

Salako praised diligent health workers for their commitment to ethical standards and assured them that their efforts would be recognized. He also highlighted the government's acquisition of various ambulances and equipment to enhance emergency medical services across the nation, aiming to reduce preventable deaths and disabilities.
