Nigeria Launches Consumer Credit Scheme for Laptops

On Tuesday, the Nigerian Federal Government unveiled a consumer credit scheme designed to provide Nigerians with affordable access to laptops and internet-enabled devices. This initiative aims to deepen digital inclusion and expand technological access across the country.

The program aligns with the government's broader objective to democratize access to consumer credit, create economic opportunities, and improve the quality of life for Nigerians. Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr.

Bosun Tijani, emphasized the importance of a sound credit system for societal progress. The initiative is part of a partnership with Credicorp, led by Managing Director Uzoma Nwagba, which will provide 1,000 locally assembled laptops to eligible fellows across Nigeria.

The rollout began in Abuja, where 77 beneficiaries received devices. This scheme is expected to empower thousands of young Nigerians, enhance their technological skills, and facilitate their participation in a technology-driven economy.
