Nigeria Launches Government Service Portal for Citizens

On Tuesday, the Federal Government of Nigeria unveiled the Government Service Portal, a digital platform designed to provide a single access point for Nigerians and businesses to government services. The soft launch took place in Abuja, organized by Galaxy Backbone in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, Managing Director and CEO of Galaxy Backbone, stated that the portal aims to resolve the issue of citizens navigating multiple websites and offices for public services. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, enhancing public service delivery and fostering economic growth through technology.

The portal is part of Nigeria’s Digital Public Infrastructure initiative, complementing existing systems for digital identity, payment, and data exchange. The soft launch allows government agencies to onboard services and gather user feedback before a broader rollout.

Adeyanju noted that the portal's success will be measured by user experience and trust in government services.
