Nigeria Launches National Digital Cloud Policy for Growth

The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled a National Digital Cloud Policy to establish a comprehensive framework for enhancing governance and the cloud infrastructure ecosystem. Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, announced that this policy is a key part of the federal government's digital economy agenda.

It aims to attract investment into cloud and data center infrastructure, position Nigeria as a regional hub for digital services, modernize government service delivery, and strengthen local digital capabilities. The policy outlines four priorities: investment and market development, regional digital services exports, government cloud transformation, and digital sovereignty and security.

A significant aspect of the policy is leveraging the government's collective purchasing power to boost domestic infrastructure investment through a whole-of-government aggregation framework. This approach is designed to minimize duplicated expenses and secure better commercial terms for the government.

Additionally, the policy will create a National Digital Marketplace for transparent procurement of cloud services.
