El-Rufai Arraigned for Corruption at Kaduna High Court

On March 24, 2026, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) at the Federal High Court in Kawo, Kaduna. The arraignment followed allegations of corrupt practices related to public property and money laundering.

Security measures were significantly increased around the court premises, with personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Police Force, and the military deployed to maintain order and prevent any disruptions. The ICPC's media head, John Odei, confirmed that El-Rufai was arraigned alongside Joel Adoga under suit number FHC/KD/73/2026.

El-Rufai had previously been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on February 16, 2026, and was granted bail on February 18, 2026, before his subsequent arrest by the ICPC. The court proceedings led to restricted vehicular movement in the area, causing early morning traffic disruptions.
