FIFA Confirms Iran's Matches Will Not Move to Mexico

FIFA has announced that Iran's World Cup matches will remain scheduled in the United States and will not be relocated to Mexico. This decision comes after negotiations between FIFA and the Iranian Football Federation aimed at ensuring player safety due to escalating tensions involving the U.S. and Israel.

The matches are part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, taking place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. Iran is set to face New Zealand on June 16, Belgium on June 21, and Egypt in Los Angeles on June 27.

U.S. President Donald Trump previously stated that he could not guarantee the safety of the Iranian national team, which has led to concerns about their participation.

FIFA has expressed its commitment to regular communication with all participating member associations, including Iran, regarding the World Cup plans.
