Super Eagles Rank Third in Africa, 26th Globally

According to FIFA's latest rankings, Nigeria's Super Eagles are positioned third in Africa and 26th globally. This ranking follows their strong performance in recent friendly matches, including a 2-1 victory over Iran and a 2-2 draw with Jordan.

Earlier in the year, during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, Nigeria won five matches against teams such as Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Mozambique, and Algeria, while drawing with Morocco and ultimately finishing third after a semi-final defeat to Egypt. Despite these achievements, Nigeria will miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup after losing in the intercontinental playoff against DR Congo.

The next FIFA ranking update is scheduled for June 10, 2026, just ahead of the World Cup, which may see significant shifts in global standings.
