Super Falcons Rise to 36th in FIFA Women's Ranking

Nigeria's Super Falcons have advanced to 36th place in the latest FIFA women's world ranking, as released on Tuesday. This marks a rise from 37th position in December 2025, indicating a gradual improvement despite inconsistent match results.

The recent ranking boost was influenced by their performance in a friendly match against the Cameroon women's national football team. After losing the first encounter 1-0, Nigeria responded strongly with a 3-1 victory in the return fixture.

Chinwendu Ihezuo equalized with a header in the 32nd minute, followed by Rinsola Babajid putting Nigeria ahead just before halftime, and Michel Alozi sealing the win with a header in the 64th minute from a precise delivery by captain Rasheedat Ajibade. This victory earned Nigeria an additional 3.35 ranking points, bringing their total to 1602, slightly below their previous record of 1607 points.

The Super Falcons remain the highest-ranked women's team in Africa, ahead of South Africa, Ghana, and Morocco.
