Super Falcons Rise to 36th in FIFA Rankings, Top Africa

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have climbed to 36th place in the latest FIFA Women's World Rankings, solidifying their position as Africa's highest-ranked women's football team. This ranking update, released on Tuesday, April 21, reflects a modest rise from their previous position of 37th in December 2025.

The improvement is attributed to the results of two pre-WAFCON friendlies against the Cameroon women's national football team. Nigeria first faced a setback with a 1-0 defeat in February but bounced back with a 3-1 victory in March.

In the latter match, Chinwendu Ihezuo equalized in the 32nd minute with a header from a precise cross by Rinsola Babajid, who later scored to give Nigeria a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute. Michel Alozi sealed the win with a flying header from a delivery by captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

Nigeria now has 3.35 points, totaling 1602, although they remain five points shy of their record of 1607 set in December 2025. Other African teams follow, with South Africa ranked 58th, Ghana 59th, and Morocco 62nd globally.
