Fire Destroys Shops and Cars in Kano Market

A significant fire incident occurred in a market in Kano, starting around 3:00 AM, which devastated the wood section and spread to the metal cluster. The fire reportedly affected approximately 50 business premises, with trader Nura Umar indicating that many traders have lost their livelihoods.

Abdulwahab Ilori, a trader, lamented the destruction of his workshop, which included heavy machinery such as lathes and welding drills, amounting to losses of nearly one million naira. Additionally, Ilori's auto spare part shop was severely impacted, with newly delivered cars valued at 14 million naira also destroyed.

Traders are appealing for assistance from the government and wealthy individuals to recover from their losses. The Kano State Fire Service is currently working to ascertain the extent of the damage and the exact cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time.
