Shettima Leads FG Delegation to Kano After Fire Disaster

On Monday, Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, will lead a Federal Government delegation to Kano following a significant fire disaster that occurred over the weekend. The fire, which began on Saturday evening and continued into Sunday morning, resulted in extensive damage to Nigeria's largest food market, with traders reportedly losing billions of naira.

This incident marks the second fire outbreak in just two weeks, raising concerns about the safety of the market. The delegation, which includes Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abba, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and other key officials, will convey President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's condolences and the government's pledge for financial assistance to support the affected traders.

President Tinubu had previously spoken with Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to express his condolences and concern over the recurring fire incidents, directing a comprehensive investigation into the causes of these fires.
