Fire Outbreak in Ilorin: Kwara Fire Service Responds

On June 7, 2026, at approximately 07:10 hours, a fire broke out at a five-bedroom bungalow located at No. 5 Obafemi Aker Street off Basin Road in Ilorin, Kwara State. The incident affected a storeroom at the rear section of the property.

The Kwara State Fire Service, led by spokesperson Hassan Adekunle, responded promptly to the emergency, arriving at the scene to battle the blaze and prevent its spread to other sections of the building. Their professional intervention significantly reduced the fire's magnitude and prevented extensive damage to the entire structure.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire originated from a generator set that caught fire without the knowledge of the occupants, subsequently spreading to the nearby storeroom. Alabi Muham, the state director of the Kwara State Fire Service, advised residents to exercise caution when operating generators and to ensure proper ventilation and maintenance to avoid such incidents.
