Fire Destroys Six Shops at Owod Market in Offa, Kwara

On Wednesday, a fire outbreak at Owod Market in the Isal Oja area of Offa, Kwara State, resulted in the destruction of six shops and goods valued at approximately 15 million naira. The incident was attributed to bush burning that spread to adjacent shops within the market.

Jimoh Modibbo Ibrahim, spokesperson for the Federal Fire Service Kwara State Command, reported that the Offa command, led by ASF II Adedeji, responded swiftly to the emergency. Firefighters utilized medium jet water deployment to control the blaze and conducted a comprehensive overhaul operation to prevent re-ignition.

Preliminary findings indicated that the fire caused damage estimated at 15 million naira, while goods and structures worth 45 million naira were saved due to the prompt intervention. The command emphasized the importance of adhering to fire safety measures and urged the public to avoid uncontrolled bush burning.
