Fire Destroys 10-Room Building in Ilorin, Kwara State

On Tuesday afternoon, a fire outbreak occurred at approximately 1:09 PM, razing a 10-room residential building located on Olorun Street off Asa Dam Road in Ilorin, Kwara State. The Kwara State Fire Service received a distress call regarding the incident, as stated by the public relations officer, Hassan Adekunle.

The fire had already engulfed the entire building by the time firefighters arrived, and initial attempts by residents to extinguish the blaze delayed the notification to the fire service, worsening the situation. Despite the severity of the incident, firefighters managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was caused by an electrical fault due to unstable power supply, which led to a power surge igniting one of the rooms. Alabi Muhammed, the director of the fire service, cautioned residents against delaying emergency calls during fire outbreaks and emphasized the importance of safety measures to prevent future incidents.
