Fire Destroys 10 Shops at Jos Terminus Market in Plateau

On Saturday night, a fire broke out at Jos Terminus Market in Plateau State, destroying 10 shops despite the swift response from emergency teams. The blaze was reported around 10:00 PM, sending thick smoke into the night sky.

Eyewitness Sila Lawrenzo noted that the prompt intervention of emergency responders helped prevent the fire from escalating into a larger disaster. The Plateau State Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Fire Service worked jointly to bring the blaze under control.

Lawrenzo confirmed that there were no lives lost in the incident. However, a visit to the market on Sunday morning revealed significant damage to several shops.

The exact cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed, and efforts to reach Mangnan Yusuf Wamyil, the general manager of Jos Main Market, were unsuccessful as his phone line was switched off. This incident follows a similar fire outbreak that occurred the previous Tuesday at the Plateau State College of Health Technology in Zawan Community, which left the medical laboratory section in ashes.
