Fire Outbreak Contained at Lagos Market with No Casualties

On Saturday, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire outbreak at Alakoro Ejalonibu Market in the Ok Arin area of Ebut Ero, Lagos. The agency received a distress call at 2:42 PM and mobilized firefighters to the scene, arriving within minutes to confront the blaze.

The fire involved three-storey commercial buildings used as warehouses and storage facilities, later spreading to an adjoining structure housing multiple shops. Margaret Adesey, the agency's General Manager, explained that the firefighting operation was coordinated to strategically deploy resources, successfully bringing the fire under control and preventing further damage to nearby properties.

The second and third floors of the initial structure sustained minor damage. No casualties were reported, and a preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

Adesey urged market operators and residents to prioritize fire safety measures, particularly regarding the proper storage of combustible materials.
