Gas Explosion Sparks Fire at Kirikiri Correctional Quarters

On April 22, around 11 PM, a gas explosion triggered a fire outbreak at the Kirikiri correctional quarters located in the Apapa area of Lagos State. Preliminary reports indicate that the fire originated from a gas cylinder, leading to rapid spread to nearby buildings.

The Director of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Folorunsho, disclosed that personnel from the naval team were promptly deployed to the scene, with two fire trucks arriving to assist in firefighting efforts. Their swift response was crucial in controlling the blaze and preventing further spread.

Although two buildings sustained damage, no casualties were reported. The naval team was commended for their professional and rapid response, which underscored the importance of fire safety awareness and adherence to preventive measures.
