Firefighters Contain Blaze at Abuja's Bentli Hotel

On March 9, 2026, a fire outbreak occurred at the Bentli Hotel in Utako, Abuja, prompting a swift response from the Federal Fire Service. The incident was reported late at night, and firefighters from the Wuse fire station were mobilized at 20:28 hours, arriving at the scene by 20:38 hours to commence firefighting operations.

The operation was led by Olumod Adeyemi, who noted that the blaze was successfully contained, preventing its spread to neighboring properties. Preliminary reports suggested a possible gas explosion as the cause, although this has not been conclusively determined.

The estimated value of the property affected by the fire was approximately 1 billion naira, with 650 million naira worth of property successfully saved, and around 350 million naira affected by the fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported during the incident.

The Federal Fire Service urged hotel operators and the public to adhere strictly to fire safety regulations, especially regarding the handling of gas cylinders and combustible materials.
