Interswitch and Temenos Partner to Modernize Nigeria's Banking

A joint delegation led by Interswitch Group CEO Mitchell Elegbe and Temenos MEA Managing Director Santhosh Rao visited the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) last week to advance Nigeria’s financial services sector. This visit follows the official announcement in June 2026 of a strategic partnership between Interswitch and Temenos, which aims to leverage Temenos solutions for core banking, digital banking, payments, wealth management, and financial crime mitigation across Africa.

The discussions at the CBN focused on how this partnership will help Nigerian financial institutions modernize their core banking platforms and adopt customer-centric business models. Additionally, the two organizations explored collaboration opportunities with the CBN in Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) innovation, utilizing resilient financial networks and decentralized application platforms.
