APC Leaders Support Reserved Seats for Women Campaign

Aisha Yau, the North West Coordinator for the Reserved Seats for Women Campaign, along with prominent Nigerian figures including Nigeria's First Lady Remi Tinubu and APC National Chairman Prof. Nentaw Yilwatda, endorsed the movement during a press briefing in Abuja.

The campaign aims to deepen support for women's representation in governance through a door-to-door mobilization strategy, which has shown success in the North West zone. Recent rallies in Kaduna garnered criticism from stakeholders in Kano, Jigawa, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina.

Yau emphasized the importance of women's involvement in legislative processes to address societal challenges. The campaign is focused on advancing the Reserved Seats for Women Bill, which seeks to amend the 1999 Constitution to reserve seats for women in the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly.

The initiative aims to dismantle barriers to women's political participation and is supported by various high-profile stakeholders.
