First Lady Tinubu Calls for Divine Accountability Among Lawmakers

During the dedication of a chapel built for the National Assembly Christian Legislators Fellowship in Abuja, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu called on lawmakers to prioritize accountability to God in their legislative duties. She highlighted the significance of the occasion, noting that it serves as a reminder for lawmakers to reflect on their responsibilities before a higher divine authority.

Tinubu drew inspiration from 2 Chronicles 6:39-40, emphasizing the need for humility and courage among leaders to ensure Nigeria's continued prosperity. Senate President Godswill Akpabio described the chapel as a spiritual milestone in Nigeria's democratic journey, stating that lawmakers must reflect justice and obedience to God to shape the nation's destiny.

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu referred to the chapel as a symbol of lawmakers' recognition of God's sovereignty. Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon and former Speaker Yakubu Dogara also spoke, urging lawmakers to prioritize national unity and the importance of repentance and forgiveness for national healing.
