Oyedele Clarifies Nigerian Diaspora Inclusion in New Tax Law to Protect Investors and Trade

Oyedele, chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy Tax Reform Committee, addressed the Nigerian diaspora community during a virtual meeting with the Nigerian Diaspora Commission in Abuja. He clarified the tax reforms to dispel misinformation and emphasized the aim to protect investors, encourage trade, and harmonize tax collection.

The reforms include exemptions, reduction in withholding tax rates, and rationalization of VAT burdens. Oyedele assured that the new tax laws will not apply double taxation and will not negatively impact small businesses, real estate investments, or retired diaspora properties in Nigeria.

The reforms are set to commence in January 2026.
