Five Dead in Amazon Cargo Plane Crash at Miami Airport

On Sunday, at Miami International Airport, an Amazon cargo plane, operating as Prime Air Flight 7598, crashed after overshooting the runway upon landing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, at 1:58 pm (1758 GMT). The incident resulted in at least five fatalities and five injuries, with three individuals transported to trauma centers in critical condition.

Miami-Dade County fire chief Ray Jadallah reported that the plane struck several vehicles, trapping victims inside. A complex extrication was required to rescue the pilot and co-pilot, whose survival status was not clarified.

The fire department deployed nearly 200 personnel and 60 fire apparatuses to manage the situation, extinguishing a fire in the aircraft's engine compartment. The National Transportation Safety Board has initiated an investigation into the accident, while Amazon expressed condolences for the loss of life and pledged cooperation with the inquiry.

Miami Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz described the scene as tragic but confirmed no apparent threat to public safety.
