Super Falcons' Camp Delayed by Flight Cancellations

The arrival of Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun and forward Gift Monday at Nigeria’s training camp in Casablanca was delayed due to the cancellation of their flight from the United States for technical reasons. The Nigeria Football Federation reported that upon arriving at the airport, the players discovered their flight had been cancelled, necessitating the purchase of new tickets for their journey to Morocco.

Despite this setback, the Super Falcons’ camp increased to 23 players with the arrival of forward Folashade Ijamilusi from China. Ijamilusi, who previously scored twice in the last Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, landed in Casablanca shortly before 3 PM.

Abiodun and Gift are set to complete coach Justine Madugu’s 25-player squad for the tournament. The Super Falcons are preparing at the La Noria Club in Casablanca ahead of their matches in Rabat against Malawi, Zambia, and Egypt.

Nigeria, as the defending champions, will start their title defense on July 28, with this tournament also serving as qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
